Kaden’s 3rd Birthday

We celebrated a couple of days late and we were privileged to have Uncle Mark come down for dinner that day so he was able to share in the very minor festivities.

This was the very pathetic cake featured at the party. I used a cake pan that only slightly left the desire Big Bird imprint — and when I added the frosting…well, we scraped off some of the face you could see who it was SUPPOSED to be!! Good news is, Kaden didn’t mind a bit.

Garrett William Goldsborough – We Miss You With All the Love in Our Hearts

We were at home Thursday morning, before Grace had even gone to school, and received a phone call. David answered the phone and right away we could tell something was very wrong. Tragically, we received news that Grace's little brother, Garrett, had died the day before at 5 months old. Grace didn't go to school again until the following Wednesday as she went to mourn with her Father and Mother and attended the memorial service. Garrett was buried on the Goldsborough ranch on the following Tuesday. Here are some great pictures of the cute little guy. Immediately Grace had these printed and made them into a photo book so she could look at pictures of Garrett all the time.

She's a great big sister holding her little brother so carefully.

These are Grace's favorites. She loves to see him up close and smiling big.

We let Grace’s teacher, Mr. Fisher, know what had happened and asked him to explain it to his students. The class responded with this wonderful card.

We carved pumpkins this year!!!

Nana and Poppy bought the entire family pumpkins wo we carved them! In the past we have been party poopers in this regard so this is definitely a step in the right direction — only problem is, we carved them a little too early so they turned all wrinkly and smooshed looking — but we won’t include pictures of that here.

Oh and I forgot to mention we painted our pumpkins too...

What a creation!

Yeah -- call me vain but I like to be creative so this is my pumpkin and she makes me smile!

Grace Won Scariest Costume – Can You See Why?

Grace was invited to one of her favorite friend’s birthday party – Marlie. And this year it was a costume party. Thanks to Nana, we had a high quality witch costume and Grace let mom do the makeup – green face and all.

She does a zombie face well, dontcha think?

I never can spell evil witch type laugh...but cool hat, huh?

Birthday Girl Photo Shoot – September 16, 2009

I never realized the trouble I would have if I tried to explain that Dorian’s birthday was on Wednesday and that her party was on a different day. When I told Dorian “today is your birthday” she said “But mom! Today can’t be my birthday! Where’s my party? Where are my friends?” We took these pictures so that we would have a nice photo for her birthday cake — she’s wearing her favorite dress at that time.

Parents’ Weekend – BYU-Idaho

The one thing you can say for attending a parents weekend at BYU-I is that you are given the opportunity to feel the Spirit. The speech by the president was uplifting and the Luau entertainment was awesome.

Oquirrh Mountain Cornerstone Choir – August 21, 2009 9 am

It was, of course, a wonderful experience. We sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Song of Praise” – and we were all about 20 feet away from President Monson. This picture was taken at the Wednesday rehearsal two days before. Steve commented on it being a bit of a letdown to go to school and sing in the choir there and compare it to the sound we made with this choir – 175 people who have sung in choirs most of their lives.

And so there’s really no other reason for these pictures except that we have a couple of matching Tinkerbell dresses – WITH matching purse and gloves –so we MUST dress up!!!

Dorian started this whole thing – and since we had matching shoes and hair piece – why not?

There's the purse and gloves I was telling you about...

She was giggling hard and having fun!

But other little girls like to join in the fun, right?

And so — if Dorian is taking pictures…

Annistin wants to be in a picture, right?

But then she decided she wanted to dress up too…
